Overview
This trip is a great combination of nature, people, history and culture.Nagarkot is the highest point that settled at altitude of 2195 meters from sea level and 32 KM away from center of Thamel. This pretty village had served as the fort of Nepal Kingdom to monitor the external movement of the other kingdom in an ancient time later become as a major tourist attraction around valley. It is the most scenic point around the Kathmandu valley which offers magical sunrise and sunset view. The panoramic view of 8 Himalayan ranges (Annapurna, Manaslu,Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal,Rolwaling ,Mahalangur and Number)out of 13 ranges in Nepal is the major attraction. Yes, if we have very clear weather; we can see Mt.Everest with short ranges mountain.
Changu Narayan temple is the historical temple of Nepal built an around 4/5 century by one of Licchavi king dedicated to Bishnu, a protector god in Hindu religion listed an UNESCO heritage site. This temple holds an ancient statue of different god and goddess with a great historical pillar erected in 5th century.
Bhaktapur is the city of mysterious culture and architecture developed in medieval period. Most of the building was built in 17/18 century however we can see some 14 centuries as well. Once Shaha dynasty conquered this valley they centralized in Kathmandu than this city remain as ancient way. The people, tradition ,culture ,trail system is still as native way. The devotion of people is the most notable things inside Bhaktapur. Haku Patasi ,Ju Ju Dhau ,wood carving ,Dhaka Topi is a special attraction of Bhaktapur.
Because of ancient statue and temple, native lifestyle and culture, this palace square is also listed in an UNESCO heritage site.
Trip overview:- Drive to Nagarkot –walk to changunarayan temple –Drive to Bhaktapur-Explore Bhaktapur-Drive back to Hotel.
Time Schedule
7:00 AM:-Our Representative will come to pick you at your hotel with vehicle. One and half hour drive takes you at Nagarkot viewpoint parking than 5 min steps walk take you at view point. This drive offers you beautiful square Maitighar Mandala and Kathmandu Valley.
8:30 AM:-Reached at Nagarkot View Point.20 Min is well enough to captured panoramic mountain ranges than get back to vehicle.
8:40AM:-Reach at hiking starting point. This hiking divided into two parts.
Part 1: Village Walk
This 5 KM walk offers you wonderful village activities ,temples ,stupa ,peace garden . Firstly you walk down passing through village to meet small spring than gradual and flat walk takes you one cross section where one small stupa standing in front of you. Before that you you will see one shiva temple on your right down . Follow the straight forward and get branch road .Follow left down trail which takes you peace garden where you will have good coffee break. In middle of garden you will see a stupa of Shakyamuni Boudha. After a short break ,keep on trail till another view point right after another cross section where there is a big PIPAL tree. From this view point ,you will see Shankhu Village with beautiful terrace field. After couple of min. walk you will reach Jalapa Devi Temple. Dattaraya statue is the most attractive one. 10 min steps walk down take you at Telkot .End of The First Section.
Part 2: 4KM .Following straight right road takes Changunarayan Temple .Most of the time we will walk on road however we can skip road some section. In the beginning we walk gradual up to meet top of the hill .If we make silent walk ,higher chances to encounter wild animal. 1 and half hour walk on road takes you Changuarayan Temple .
Note:-Few tea shops are available in between.
1:00PM: Reach Changunarayan Temple. The beautiful ancient temple hold many other 7/8th centuries statues including historical pillar. We can have lunch and move to Bhaktapur.
2:30 PM:-Drive to Bhaktapur.
3:00PM:-Reach at Bhaktapur. The city of devotees is the capital city of ancient Malla’s dynasty ruled in between 13th CAD to 1769 AD. Most of building we see was from 17/18 CAD however Taleju and Yekhsyaswor temple are from 14 and 15 CAD respectfully. If you are not tired you can visit Taumadhi Square and Pottery Square. Taumadhi Square hold the tallest temple of Nepal and a protector god ;Bhairav .Pottery square hold the activities related with pot making. On way back can visit Lama Thanka Painting School; the oldest painting school.
At the End of tour, you can have taste of Ju Ju Dhau (KING CURD)
4:00 PM: Drive Back Kathmandu.
5:00PM: Reached Kathmandu
